Legionella - The Law and Your Duties as an Employer Employers with 5 or more employees have a duty under law to operate and maintain water services under conditions which prevent or control the growth and multiplication of Legionella as explained in the Health & Safety Executive Guideline "Approved Code of Practice & Guidance L8" known as ACoPUnder general health and safety law, you have to consider the risks from Legionella that may affect your staff or members of the public and take suitable precautions.
